Michelle Roper Dennis owns and leads My Country Escape. She brings warmth, focus and intention to everything we do.
From New Zealand to the Scenic Rim
Michelle grew up in New Zealand. She now lives on Mount Tamborine and calls the Scenic Rim home.
Her background is varied. She has raised a family. She ran a toy boutique. She worked in victim support. She has even worked on-site in industrial services. Every role shaped how she runs the store today. With care, clarity and purpose.
The Store’s Story
My Country Escape has been part of Canungra for more than ten years. The building was once a haberdashery. Before that, it was a Retrovision. It was built in 1957.
Michelle gave the space a full renovation in 2021. The goal was simple. Keep the charm. Make it fresh.
Now the store is light, calm and full of pieces that feel considered. We stock timeless homewares, relaxed fashion and meaningful gifts. Lydia’s Garden, our in-store florist, is part of the space too.
